365体育现金Dream Big, Dream Together is a free family event on Monday, February 17, 2020, at Oakland Schools from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. for 3rd through 8th grade students. 

There will be a showing of the acclaimed “Dream Big: Engineering Our World” documentary, showcasing the important role that engineers play in our society. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in a STEM activity after the movie to further their interest in engineering and STEM careers. Families are encouraged to watch the  and/or read reviews of “Dream Big” to determine appropriateness for each child.

Yearbooks at Eastover
  • Submit pictures for a chance to win a Yearbook!

  • Did you take a photo this year that would be perfect for the yearbook? Do you have any first day of school, Halloween, classroom, garden, mobile kitchen, Fun Run, story times or any other Eastover moment pictures?  We are looking for photos that are clear and include small groups of kiddos. 

  • Please send your photos to eastoveryearbook@gmail.com by FEBRUARY 18, 2020 to be entered into the contest for a free yearbook. In the body of the email please note your student’s name and teacher.

Eastover Elementary and East Hills Middle School are partnering this year for the 3rd annual Pancake Dash 5K and Fun Run on Saturday, March 28, 2020.  We are raising funds for programs that support the physical and mental wellness of our students. This includes playground equipment; mental-health awareness activities and programs; wellness-centered books for the library; healthy eating/exercise events; donations for the school garden; grants for wellness-based teacher initiatives and more! If running/walking is not your thing, please join us for an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast or just come out to cheer on your friends!  Check out the main newsletter for more information and the registration flyer.  

We are looking forward to the 2020 Parents’ Night Out!  
In honor of 2020, we’ll be celebrating the Roaring ‘20s — 1920s attire encouraged, but not required.  Ticket cost is $50/guest and includes (post-prohibition) beverages, heavy hors d’oeuvres and memories to last through the ages.  Proceeds benefit PTO programming at Eastover and East Hills.

Incoming Kindergarten Students
It was great to see so many new families this past week who will have a first time kindergarten student in the fall. This is a very exciting time  If you or someone you know will have a child that turns 5 on or before Sept. 1st, 2020 please attend our Kindergarten Orientation which is on May 12th, 2020. Teacher Sign Language

365体育现金Bloomfield Hills Schools is pleased to announce Family Sign Language Classes every Monday night from February 3 to March 30, 2020.  Classes will be held at Eastover Elementary School (1101 Westview Road, Bloomfield Hills, 48304) from 6:30 to 8 PM.  Classes are geared towards all levels: advanced, intermediate, beginners, and kids (age 5-12).  The cost is $30 per family, checks payable to "BHS DHH - FSL Fund."  Questions can be directed to Diana Campbell at diacampbell@reporter4u.com.

PTO Parents Night Out

Dear Eastover & East Hills Families:

Tickets are now available for our Parents Night Out Event.  Come out to celebrate this Eastover/East Hills community event in Roaring 20's Style. Costumes encouraged but not required.  Includes heavy hors d'oeuvres, post-prohibition beverages, live music and a night to remember, all in support of our students. The event takes place on Saturday, February 8, at 7:00 PM at the Historic Woodcrest Estate located at 5263 Franklin Road in Bloomfield Hills. Tickets available .

Former United States Secretary of Education Arne Duncan recognized Eastover Elementary School as a 2015 U.S. Department of Education Exemplary High Performing National Blue Ribbon School.

The National Blue Ribbon Schools Award is a highly recognized symbol of commendable teaching and learning. Schools are honored at a ceremony in Washington D.C. with a plaque affirming the hard work of students, educators, families and communities, and presented with a special flag to grace the school building. “This is an incredible honor for our school,” said Principal Carey Crocker. “The teachers, students, and families have worked hard to earn this distinction.” To read more click here.

Visible Thinking and Sustainability

At Eastover, we aim to educate the whole child365体育现金. In addition to a comprehensive curriculum based on the Common Core State Standards, students receive instruction in music, art, Spanish, physical education, and technology. Students also engage in learning opportunities that develop their creativity, compassion, and leadership skills. Our Visible Thinking initiative provides a culture of thinking that fosters creativity, problem solving, critical thinking, and collaboration.
